It’s not like Jane Lynch suddenly became more talented this year – 2010 just happened to be the year when the world decided to really take notice. The gifted actress who we had long loved from Christopher Guest movies including Best in Show and For Your Consideration , had been delivering stand-out performances in increasingly high-profile movies ( 40 Year Old Virgin, Talladega Nights ) and TV shows ( Boston Legal, Two and a Half Men ) when along came the role of a lifetime: Sue Sylvester in Glee . In 2010, Jane turned 50 and found herself a superstar.
I love the hype surrounding these two right now. I am so beyond thrilled for their Emmy nods and for Jane’s honor at Outfest. If you haven’t read her acceptance speech and her dedication to Chris, DO IT! Oh and I apologize yet again for not being able to embed the videos…have I mentioned that I had wordpress?
Outfest , “the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing, showcasing and protecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media,” is said to be presenting it’s 14th annual Achievement Award to Jane Lynch at the film festival’s opening night July 8 at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. Outfest’s highest honor, The Achievement Award is presented in recognition of a body of work that has made a significant contribution to LGBT film and media. “As an actor, comedien and longtime activist for gay rights issues, Jane has had a profound impact on both mainstream and LGBT audiences,” Outfest exec director Kirsten Schaffer said.
